NEWS FROM LJFC CLUB DEVELOPMENT TEAM

1.       We are absolutely delighted to announce that two of our volunteers have been successful in winning two of only four places on the much coveted FA Young Leaders Scheme. Sam Gooch and Shaun Johnston will be heading off to Hertfordshire this month for the first leg of their training.

The FA Regional Young Leaders Camp is an opportunity for Young Leaders involved in grassroots football across the whole East Region to develop even further skills such as coaching, leadership, team work and communication. Following the regional camp there will be also an opportunity to attend the National Young Leaders Camp which is taking place in July and from there four young leaders will be selected to go to Cape Town South Africa to support the FA’s International Placement and help support and run coaching sessions for children in Africa.

Brendan Walshe, Senior Football development Officer, Essex FA said: “Sam and Shaun are excellent examples of the impact young people can have as young leaders in football and congratulations go to both for gaining a place at the camp. The regional camp is an excellent opportunity for young people to develop as football volunteers and further enhance their skills as Young Leaders. Volunteers are crucial in football and we are keen to develop the next generation of football volunteers”

Congratulations Shaun and Sam and good luck from everyone at LJFC

2.   We have just heard that we have been successful in gaining a £750 grant towards the further development of girl’s football at Lawford Junior FC. The Barclays Fund will be used to pay for football kit, awards and the next Girl’s Football Festival on 18 May 2008.

3.   The New Pavilion: The team has been working hard very behind the scenes to further the project and we hope to have some really good news following our meeting with the FA and Football Foundation on 21 May.

4.   Congratulations to the LJFC Girls Team who won runners-up in the NACRO Futsal Tournament at Clacton in February – their very first tournament!
